Canadians get a taste of what it's like to LIVE FREE!
Today, Canadians were given the chance to experience what it's like to "live free". For a half-hour, AIR MILES Collectors drove or walked away with FREE gasoline* and/or FREE groceries** in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, and Edmonton. Together with AIR MILES Sponsors - Shell, Dominion, IGA, and Safeway - Canada's premier loyalty program paid AIR MILES Collectors' bills for gas fill-ups* and $20 to $40 worth of groceries** at designated locations for a 30-minute period. According to a recent AIR MILES/Ipsos Reid survey(1), one-in-three Canadians believes that nothing in life is free. The AIR MILES Reward Program's half-hour giveaway and Live Free For A Year promotion provides consumers with a reason to think otherwise. Live Free For A Year is an exciting and meaningful contest from the AIR MILES Reward Program, offering AIR MILES Collectors the chance to win payment of their everyday expenses for a year, including gas, groceries, and mortgage plus much more from other AIR MILES Sponsors. According to the AIR MILES/Ipsos Reid survey(1), when asked what would you do if your bills simply stopped coming for a year, Canadians said that their first priority (83%) would be to spend more time with family and friends. "Canadians value the simple pleasures in life and would take advantage of any opportunity to focus on the things that really matter, such as spending quality time with family and friends, if they could be free of day-to-day bills and expenses," said Caroline Papadatos, Vice President of Marketing for the AIR MILES Reward Program. Among the other activities Canadians would choose to pursue if free of everyday expenses: pay off debt (79%), travel (77%) and live the same life but "step it up a notch" (73%). Conducted for the AIR MILES Reward Program, the Ipsos-Reid survey(1) was released in conjunction with the launch of Live Free For A Year. Entry to Live Free For A Year is easy: simply by shopping at participating AIR MILES Sponsors between October 18 and November 28, and earning reward miles, AIR MILES Collectors are automatically entered into the contest. Every reward mile collected at a participating Sponsor is an entry into the contest. Three grand prizes will be awarded in February 2005 of approximately $37,000 (this figure is based on average national household expenditures(2) allowing three lucky Collectors to be free of everyday expenses for a year, and giving them the opportunity to pursue their individual goals. AIR MILES partners providing prizes include: Shell, BMO Bank of Montreal, Mosaik Mastercard, American Express, WestJet, RONA, TIM-BR Mart, Primus, Sony, Universal Music, Famous Players and Empire Theatres, SportCheck, Sports Experts, Safeway, A & P, Dominion, Ultra Food and Drug, The Barn Markets, IGA, Les Marches Traditions, Sobeys, PharmaPlus/Rexall, Safeway Pharmacy, Jean Coutu, PharmaSave and Lawtons Drugs.
